ome said they arrived at 5 p.m., a full seven hours before they could hand over their ticket — purchased two weeks ago — to get into last night’s sold-out midnight screening of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1. Or the sold-out 12:06 a.m. screening…or the sold-out 12:11 a.m. screening…or the sold-out 12:16 a.m. screening. The United Artists Kaufman Astoria theater in New York City, like so many other theaters around the country, attempted to accommodate Twi-hard demand with a multitude of options slotted well past midnight. (A tip of the hat to any movie theater employee that works on nights like these. It cannot be easy.)
As a newbie to the Twilight midnight showing experience (and oh, is it an experience), I arrived at 10:30 p.m. It was pretty obvious I had zero chance at getting a good seat — the lobby and theater area (pictured) were packed to the brim with (mostly) girls in their late teens and early 20s (though I spotted a few reluctant boyfriends here and there), all out far past reasonable bedtimes and curfews.
A Twilight midnight screening is a group affair. Unless you’re the lone reporter who won’t stop asking everyone questions, you travel in packs with friends and relatives who adore the series as much as you do. For many, it’s a tradition, like it was for Queens resident Faiza Fatimah, who was celebrating her 20th birthday by seeing Breaking Dawn with the same two close friends she’d seen all the other Twilight movies with.

When we heard there was already a line forming out on the plaza for “Twilight” star Robert Pattinson’s appearance Thursday, we just had to run outside and see who these fans were!
Five fans were camping out as of noon – and they were the definition of Twihards. The first three girls in line have been waiting since 4 a.m. Wednesday. They joined the crowd for Taylor Lautner’s appearance on TODAY this morning and as soon as he was done, went right back to their vigil for Pattinson.
“It’s such an exciting experience. Just to see them, to get a picture makes me happy,” Alexandria Rhodes said.

wi-hards, get ready for more evidence that Robert Pattinson actually is the man of your dreams: After being immortalized alongside “Twilight: Breaking Dawn – Part 1″ costars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner in a handprint ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood, R-Pattz took a minute of his time to do something for a dying fan that she’ll never forget.
After reporter Gigi Graciette met terminally ill Twi-hard Rachel and her group of caregivers, she decided to do what she could to grant Rachel’s dying wish: to meet R-Pattz himself.
Naturally, since Pattinson is not a d-bag, he agreed and Rachel had the experience she always dreamed of. Graciette caught up with Rachel after the meeting, and she couldn’t have been happier.
“Oh my God, he’s so sweet, and he gave me this great autograph,” Rachel gushes. “He’s just so handsome and he was right next to me. I can’t believe it, it was so wonderful!”
And to all you Twi-hards wondering what it’s like to meet Edward in person, Rachel would like you to know something. “Everybody out there: he’s just really nice,” she says. “It was very sweet.”

CHICAGO – In high anticipation for the fourth “Twilight” film to hit the big screen, Summit Entertainment is providing more and more ways for fans to join in on the excitement. We recently wrote about the rerelease of the first three movies to theaters before “The Twlight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1” hits the big screen, but now Summit is bringing the films even closer to fans in the Chicago area.
Several actors and actresses from the hit vampire films will be right here in Chicago for an event that will allow fans to meet the cast members as well as enjoy live music from an artist featured on the new soundtrack. In a press release today, Summit Entertainment announced the five cities that the tour would stop in and Chicago is on the list.
On Nov. 8, 2011 at the House of Blues in downtown Chicago, several cast members of the Cullen family will appear in person in the Windy City for the red-carpet event. The cast members that will be in attendance are Ashley Greenez (Alice), Nikki Reedz (Rosalie), Peter Facinelliz (Carlisle), Jackson Rathbonez (Jasper), Kellan Lutzz (Emmett) and Elizabeth Reaserz (Esme).
If that wasn’t enough, singer Christina Perriz will be live at the House of Blues to perform for the audience on hand. Perri is featured on “The Twiight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1” soundtrack with her song titled “A Thousand Years”. The press release also included other details fans who wish to go should know:
Tickets are free and will be available beginning at 10 a.m. local time on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011 at each event location. Tickets are limited to two per person and are non-transferable. Names must be provided at the time of registration for the purposes of pick up at the event.
Photo ID must be shown upon arrival at the event (school ID is acceptable) and guests must arrive at the event with the individual who reserved the tickets. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis until venue capacity is reached.
