Director Renny Harlin has found his Hercules in Kellan Lutz.
Lutz, one of the more popular co-stars of The Twilight Saga, has signed to star in Hercules 3D, Nu Image/Millennium’s big-budget take on the Greek demigod.
Harlin (Cliffhanger, Die Hard 2) is directing the $70 million epic, which is aiming to shoot in May in Bulgaria.
“It takes more than a good physique to portray the most legendary, mythological personality in history — and Kellan has exactly that, personality,” Harlin tells The Hollywood Reporter. “He’s not afraid to explore the strengths and vulnerabilities of the character, and he impressed me with his passion and heart.”
The movie is one of two high-profile Hercules movies being made by Hollywood studios, the second being an MGM/Paramount co-production to be directed by Brett Ratner. Dwayne Johnson is playing the hero in the rival project.
While exact plot details are being kept under wraps, Hercules 3D will have at its center a love story between the son of Zeus and the mortal princess of Crete, who was promised to his older brother despite her love for Hercules.

Australia was founded as a repository for crooks and criminals — a wretched hive of scum and villainy, like the British Empire’s own Mos Eisley. Of course, that was a long time ago and the Australian national demeanor has since shifted from “kill or be killed” to “live and let live,” but David Michôd’s gritty 2010 drama Animal Kingdom chronicled some of the country’s more modern criminal descendents. In his upcoming sophomore effort, The Rover, the director takes things even further.
Robert Pattinson plays a denizen of the Outback in the near future, after a worldwide financial collapse has sent many like him running to the still viable mines of the Australian desert. “It’s like a new gold rush,” says Michôd. “Where people from all corners of the world have come out to the desert to scrape out an existence. Petty criminals and miscreants and hustlers.” Guy Pearce, who had an uncharacteristically reserved role in Animal Kingdom, gets to sink his teeth into a nicely nasty part opposite Pattinson. “The basic story is really quite elemental,” says Michôd. “You’ve got a really dark, dangerous, murderous person in Guy’s character, and in Rob’s character you have a quite troubled and damaged, but beautiful and naïve, soul.”
Of course, just by its setting and basic plot, The Rover is poised to draw comparisons to one of the antipodean country’s most memorable cinematic contributions. “You put cars in the desert in Australia and people are going to think of Mad Max,” says Michôd. “And with all due respect to that film — and I stress that — I think The Rover is going to be way more chillingly authentic and menacing.”

Twi-hards rejoice! The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 will finally be available on Blu-ray, DVD, Video On Demand and Digital Download on March 2, and both the Blu-ray and DVD features extensive bonus materials.
Some of the features include a seven-part “Making Of” documentary (exploring the difficulties in shooting Part 1 and Part 2 back-to-back), The Forgotten Green Day music video and audio commentary with director Bill Condon.
“The excitement of the worldwide sensation Twilight Saga’s final chapter culminates with a massive home entertainment release that will reach fans and retailers nationwide,” said Ron Schwartz, Lionsgate Executive Vice President & General Manager, Home Entertainment. “Both The Twilight Saga and The Hunger Games have changed the way studios and audiences look at the blockbuster, even altering how Hollywood rolls out its films. Making the DVD and Blu-Ray release as much of an event as the theatrical release gives our passionate fans an opportunity to celebrate this much-beloved film all over again.”
In the clips above, Summit Entertainment (a Lionsgate company) takes you behind-the-scenes into the making of some of the movie’s risky stunts as well as the risque romantic scenes between Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson.

Greetings To Our Global Twihard Family
On the flight now from Madrid to Berlin, I wanted to check in one last time, as you’re finally getting a look at what we’ve all been working on so intensely. It’s hard to believe that after our Berlin premiere tonight, my TWILIGHT journey will finally come to a close. It’s been almost three years since I first wrote to you. I’m very proud of what we’ve created together since then, and I hope that PART II fulfills your expectations for the grand finale to Stephenie’s sprawling saga. Fingers crossed that you’ve also managed to stay at least mostly spoiler-free, in order to enjoy the twists and parting gifts we have in store for you…
Thank you again for making me feel like a member of your fandom family online…for sleeping in The Line in San Diego in order to laugh with us in Hall H…for traveling great distances to join us in L.A. for last year’s Tent City and this year’s Fan Camp. Above all, thank you for trusting me with this universe you care so deeply about – we tried to match your intensity in our attention to every detail. That said, I don’t think I’ll ever live down the shame of being spied on by Twihard covens around the world on our very first night of shooting in Rio. Thanks to photos shot and instantly posted online of Bella and Edward on their honeymoon, we were called out in real time for missing a certain engagement ring… (Sorry — again!)
As with you all, what I’ll take with me from my time in Forks are so many great friendships – our massive cast of talented actors, and new creative partners such as Melissa Rosenberg, Guillermo Navarro and Phil Tippett. I hope to know them all for years and to work with them again soon, making movies yet to be dreamed up. At the L.A. premiere Monday night, Phil said we should make a “bloody, giant monster movie.” But is there room for a musical number?
See you at the theatre.
Forever,
Bill

Is there a Twihard or two in your family? You can easily identify the afflicted youngsters by their having raced to see The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 this weekend.
Now here’s a great holiday gift idea for young or old Twihards: The brand new Breaking Dawn 2 Barbie Dolls of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan, aka Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
In contrast with the tamer early versions of the Twilight lovers, Bella is considerably hotter since she became a vampire. She is paler, with thicker hair and very dramatic golden eyes. And she’s suited up in a tough-girl faux-leather biker jacket and skintight leggings with boots. Even Edward looks edgier, wearing a dark brown wool jacket and a pair of trendy rolled-up dark-wash jeans.
The first Twilight Saga Barbie dolls of the pair were dressed in jeans and sporty jackets. Back then, Edward was the only pale-complexioned one. And when Breaking Dawn – Part 1 premiered, the dolls wore traditional wedding attire that looked a lot like what they wore in the film.
There are other characters as well: Esme, in a straight slim skirt and a purple ruffled sleeveless blouse; Carlisle, in a white lab coat and a very metrosexual turquoise shirt and matching tie; and Emmett, wearing a gray vest and maroon shirt with rolled-up sleeves and a hip leather wrist band.
The Bella/Edward gift set will be available exclusively at Toys ‘R Us and the solo dolls are sold on Barbiecollector.com starting Dec. 1. No price is listed, but if you double the price of a single doll — $24.95 — that’s probably the approximate price of the couple gift set.
Think the price is high? Well, keep in mind that these are collectibles. In a few decades, a Twihad will be able to sell a set of unopened dolls on eBay. So they make pretty decent investment — but that’s only if they are unopened. And where’s the fun in that?
